The Family Teatime project was a new initiative to ensure whole families in the Almond neighbourhood could have a healthy meal and spend quality, fun time together as a family. The project was open to families living in temporary or insecure rented accommodation and children who attend a LIFT kids club, that were identified as coming to the club hungry.

Family Teatime Sessions were hosted once a week for 12 weeks. The menu was set after discussions with the families. Over 400 meals were served and attendees were often able to take left over food home. Everyone was treated equally and had access to decent food.

The overall impact was happy children, playing in a safe space, watching their parents smiling, eating and chatting. No one felt left behind, one parent stated: “the bairns enjoyed themselves, and there were full belly’s all round.” In a testament of its success many attendees were asking if the Family Teatimes will be run again.
