Our plan
We have already made progress across all 5 pillars of community wealth building. For example
- We are a Living Wage accredited employer and work with the Edinburgh Fair Work Action Group to promote fair work in the city.
- We spent 35.9% of our total core spend with local suppliers in 2024/ 25.
- We have developed a Community Wealth Building Framework to support the Granton Waterfront regeneration.
- We support employees and residents to access affordable credit and build financial resilience through being an employer partner of Capital Credit Union.
Our Community Wealth Building Plan 2026 to 2029 builds on this work. It has 3 priorities
- Grow awareness: Produce resources and run events to increase understanding of community wealth building across the council and the city.
- Deliver change: Work with services across the organisation to embed community wealth building into policies, projects and programmes.
- Build a city-wide movement: Build relationships with partners across all sectors to develop collaboration and community wealth building activity.
10 objectives and actions sit behind these priorities.
