Road closures, diversions and transport

Road closures and public transport

A section of west Princes Street remains closed between Charlotte Street and Frederick Street to all transport. Public transport including Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams are affected. 

Please plan ahead for journeys as diversions and delays are expected to last into August.

Shandwick Place

Saturday 18 July: Shandwick Place will be temporarily closed to vehicles from 11am - 7pm to allow people going to the Scotland v Fiji rugby match to safely get on and off trams and travel to the stadium. Buses and bikes will be diverted along Coates Crescent and Atholl Crescent. Please plan ahead if you need to travel.

Pedestrians

Pedestrians can still access Princes Street except between Boots and the former Debenhams building (101 - 109 Princes Street). Rose Street and Princes Street Gardens are also open for pedestrians.

Buses

Buses are unable to travel along Princes Street from South Charlotte Street and Frederick Street and are being diverted via George Street and Queen Street. The Mound remains open.

Trams

Trams are running between Edinburgh Airport and Shandwick Place only. They are unable to travel along Princes Street to Leith or Newhaven. .

Trains

Trains are running as normal. If you are travelling from the east end of Edinburgh to an event at Murrayfield you may wish to consider taking a train from Waverley Station to Haymarket Station. From there you can hop on a tram or bus to the stadium.
