Festive recycling and waste collections
Kerbside collections
We are not emptying wheelie bins, glass recycling boxes and food waste caddies on Christmas or New Year’s Day.
If your bins are usually emptied on a Thursday, put them out on Saturday and we’ll empty them over the weekend. If your bins are emptied on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, please put them out as usual.
If your usual collection day is
- Tuesday 23 December – there is no change
- Wednesday 24 December – there is no change
- Thursday 25 December - we will empty your wheelie bin, glass recycling or food caddie on Saturday 27 December
- Friday 26 December - there is no change
- Tuesday 30 December – there is no change
- Wednesday 31 December – there is no change
- Thursday 1 January - we will empty your wheelie bin, glass recycling or food caddie on Saturday 3 January
- Friday 2 January - there is no change.
If your usual collection day for your gull proof sack is Thursday, it will be collected on Saturday.
Please put your bins or boxes out by 6am. If we have not picked them up by the end of the day, please leave them out and we will get them as soon as we can.

Special uplifts
There are no special uplifts from 22 December 2025 to 4 January 2026.
Christmas tree collections
We will collect Christmas trees from 30 December to 9 January. Check our collection directory for the days we are collecting trees from your street.
Garden waste collections
We will not collect brown bins from 15 December to 13 January. This is to allow our teams to collect Christmas trees and extra waste and recycling over the festive season.
Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC)
Our recycling centres will be closed on
- 25 December
- 26 December
- 1 January
- 2 January.
They will close at 5pm on 24 and 31 December.
