Firework Control Zones 2026

To help keep our communities safe there will be 14 areas in the city where it will be illegal to set off fireworks, even on private property, from 30 October to 8 November 2026.

These areas are known as Firework Control Zones and can help reduce noise, stress, littering and antisocial behaviour caused by fireworks.

These areas are

  • Balerno
  • Calton Hill
  • Corstorphine
  • Gracemount
  • Liberton
  • Lochend
  • Longstone
  • Moredun
  • Niddrie
  • Seafield
  • Sighthill/Broomhouse
  • Stenhouse/ Gaskill
  • West Pilton
  • Wester Hailes.

Firework Control Zones can help reduce noise, stress, littering and antisocial behaviour caused by fireworks. They can be considered for

  • misuse of fireworks/injuries
  • impact on vulnerable groups
  • environmental protection
  • animal welfare.

FCZs are for private spaces such as gardens or land managed by a community centre management committee. FCZs limit using fireworks on that land for a specific period of time. Firework displays on public spaces are covered by different legislation.
