Notice of West Pilton / West Granton Community Council 2026 Election

A call for nominations opens on 10 July for the West Pilton / West Granton community council election.

Community Council election timescales

Here is a breakdown of the important dates

  • Nomination period runs from 10 July 2026 until 7 August 2026. This is when you can nominate yourself to stand for election as a community councillor.
  • The poll will be held on 19 August 2026 if necessary.
  • A poll will only be held if there are more people nominated to be an Elected Member than places on the community council
  • Should the number of candidates validly nominated for West Pilton / West Granton Community Council exceed 10 the arrangements for a poll shall be implemented.
  • However, should the number of candidates validly nominated for West Pilton / West Granton Community Council equal or be more than 5 but be less than or equal to 10 the nominated candidates will be declared to be elected and no ballot shall be held.
  • Please note that should the number of candidates nominated, be below 5 then unfortunately West Pilton / West Granton Community Council will not be established.
  • West Pilton / West Granton community council will start on 19 August 2026.

  • Emailing governance@edinburgh.gov.uk is the quickest method to submit completed forms.
  • post to the Governance Team, Βι¶ΉΣ³»­, Waverley Court, 4 East Market Street, Edinburgh, EH8 8BG
  • hand in to Waverley Court reception

If you choose to return by hand or by post please ensure you allow sufficient time for the nomination form to be received before the deadline at 4pm on Friday 7 August 2026.

Nominations close at 4pm on Friday 7 August 2026.

If you are successful, you will be asked to sign a declaration of acceptance at the first community council meeting declaring that, having been elected to the office of Community Councillor

  • you accept the office
  • you undertake that you will fulfil the duties of office according to the best of your judgement and ability
  • in doing so you will comply with the requirements and code of conduct set out in the City of Βι¶ΉΣ³»­ Scheme for Community Councils.
